CCAA wishes to include and embrace pastoral workers

CCAA is aware that not everyone involved with CCAA is involved in a clinical practice or private work which results in the typical one hour counselling sessions which count towards accreditation requirements for Graduate of Clinical membership.

Much of the work of Members and Associates occurs in pastoral and chaplaincy situations where counselling skills are put to use.

CCAA highly regards and values pastoral care, pastoral counselling, and chaplaincy work.

It is important to CCAA that there is a pathway to accreditation for those who work in pastoral care and/or chaplaincy.

It is also important to CCAA that support and professional development opportunities be part of CCAA's mandate. How we go about this is still in a developing stage.

If you wish to pursue accreditation with CCAA and work in pastoral and/or chaplaincy it is important that you

  • Document all counselling situations you undertake in order that you can give evidence of your experience which will equate to CCAA/PACFA requirements.
  • Obtain clinical supervision of your work also to meet CCAA/PACFA requirements.
