2012 - Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) - David Kerr

  • Saturdays and Sundays, Feb 18, 19. March 24, 25. May 19, 20. June 16, 17. July 21, 22. 2012 (9.30am – 4pm)
  • This experiential course based on the work of Susan Johnson will introduce participants to a short-term model for effective marital therapy.
    • It will highlight relevant theory of adult love and marital stress. The nine steps in the process of change will be highlighted with step-by-step guidance of interventions at specific points in therapy and ways to address a partner’s emotions to create new interactions and bonding events.
    • Participants will view videos, experience role plays and other experiential activities as part of the training process. There is an expectation that participants will complete written assignments during the course. Participants will experience this dynamic systemic approach and its integration with other modalities and ways of working, including sculpting.
  • David Kerr is a Master Clinician accredited with the Australian Association of Relationship Counsellors and offers Individual, Relationship and Family Therapy in Private Practice. David has clinical membership with PACFA, Full membership with the Institute of Group Leaders, qualified Train the Trainer, and has completed a Masters and other university degrees. He is an experienced trainer and supervisor who has worked and trained with a variety of agencies and organisations since his introduction to counselling in 1979. He brings a wealth of experience, insight and humour
    to training.

2012 - Group Supervision in Individual and Couple Work - Magda Liem

  • The group will meet on a monthly basis, for a 2 hour session. There will be a total of 10 sessions in a calendar year. There is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 supervisees in a group.
  • Presenter/Supervisor Magdalena Liem
    • Magdalena is an experienced counsellor and supervisor, who has worked over 14 years with several organisations, including The Salvation Army Counselling Service since April 2009. Prior to her present job, she worked with Life Care Counselling Service for 4 years, then with Anglicare Counselling Service for 8 years and in Private Practice for over 11 years
  • Venue: The Salvation Army Counselling Service, 15-17 Blaxland Rd, Rhodes, NSW 2138.

  • St Mark’s Registered Training Organisation is offering two excellent training opportunities in 2012 for counsellors who wish to up-skill in the areas of Relationship Counselling or Supervision.
    • These courses are designed for practising counsellors who wish to expand their range of counselling work, either into working with couples and families, or for those who wish to supervise counsellors.
    • The Supervision training also has a Pastoral stream for experienced clergy who wish to be trained in Professional Supervision of clergy and church workers.
    • These year-long courses are being offered in Sydney and Melbourne in 2012
