2008 Theme: Unbinding the Secrets:
– Transforming the Soul
Our program this year focuses on managing the effects of trauma and abuse, equipping the practitioner with an understanding of both effects and consequences of trauma, and providing a framework from which to intervene. Physical, emotional and sexual abuses impose a punishing toll upon children and adolescents. Attachment theory suggests that a secure base (security, safety and trust) forms the core of what counsellors provide and implement in order to reduce the effects of abuse.
