Speaker:

Peter is an Associate Chaplin at Acacia Prison, and has been working there for just over 4 years, on a voluntary basis, two days per week. He also comes alongside the boys where he can, after they are released, as well as men's ministry.

Peter has been with his wife for 20 years and married for 15. He has three children, two boys tohis wife Amanda, ages 14 and 10 and also a 21 year old daughter.

What ledPeter into the work/ministry of Prison Chaplain?

The simple answer? God. Having spent most of his lifegrowing up in children's homes, institutions and jails from the age of 9 to 31 God has placed him in Prison to come along side those whom he would call his family. “They are trapped, they want to get out but they don't know how”.

Peter is extremely passionate about God, he does not call himself religious, but a Christian, and believes thatGod should be the centre piece of our life:

“He comes first in all things, as you fix your eyes on Him and seek Him first in all you do, every thing that concerns you concerns Him. His word is the final authority, every word of it is true, it is our instruction manual for living in the light”. (Peter)

Peter also states: “You can take the prisoner out of prison but in order to keep him out, you must get the prison out of the prisoner! Prison is not just a Jail”.
